It's all in the name

In early 2011 we were contacted by a mother-to-be named Crystal. She was very interested in giving her second son a name reminiscent of Seaside. After many suggestions, Crystal and her husband decided on Davis.

Here are some newborn pictures of the little man. Are they not the sweetest pictures that you have ever seen?

Davis' story in his mother's words:

"In the fall of 2006 I married the man of my dreams in a beautiful beach ceremony in Destin.  The next day we drove the short 30 mile trip down US-98 to Seaside and instantly fell in love with its nostalgia, charm and simplicity.  It was truly magical and we could not have asked for a more perfect honeymoon.  We rode bikes, swam in the ocean, sipped wine in a hammock, lounged on the beach, and tried every eatery in town.  It was heavenly. Too soon our trip came to an end and we returned to the real world. Life continued on but my day dreams always brought me back to our time in Seaside.

Four short years later we found ourselves expecting our second son.  We wanted a strong name with meaning and sentiment.  One evening we began reminiscing about our days in Seaside and soon decided that we should name our son after the little community we loved so much.

I began doing research on the town, its history, its philosophy, even its street names.  In my search for the perfect name I read lots of articles about Seaside.  I was most impressed by the story of its founders Robert and Daryl Davis and their journey to bring Robert’s grandfather’s dream of a beautiful seaside community to fruition.  As a designer myself I couldn’t help but respect their vision and dedication to create comfort and serenity through urban planning and architecture. It soon became clear that DAVIS was the perfect name for our son.

In June of 2011 we welcomed our precious Davis into the world. He is such a sweet addition and completes our little family of four.   We couldn’t have asked for a more easy-going baby.  He enjoys playing outside and loves to follow his big brother everywhere. Davis’ first birthday is fast approaching and we plan to spend the day celebrating in Seaside.  My husband and I have great memories as newlyweds in Seaside and we look forward to creating many family ones as well.

Our wishes for Davis are to love the Lord with all his heart, respect the earth and its beaches, discover his passion, let nothing stand in the way of his destiny, and of course live a simple, beautiful life."

We loved hearing from this family and sharing their story! Happy first birthday, Davis!
