Robi Fugate, our buyer for The Seaside Style, and I have a running joke that if we manifest something we mysteriously find it. I have been procrastinating over how to write our blog for the website for weeks. Many creative brainstorming sessions about our Bud brand pushed a crazy thought into my head. We needed another Bud. And I needed another dog like a hole in my head.
As fate would have it, last Tuesday I noticed on Alaqua Animal Rescue's Facebook that a red dachshund-like dog had been adopted. I then searched their website's inventory for adoptable dachshunds. Nothing there, but there was a link to PetFinders. Immediately an image of a young red dachshund popped up on my screen. Did I manifest Bud? I was a little scared, but knew that there was no turning back now.
I emailed the address and inquired. It seemed that this little guy had been released to the pound by his owner for getting out of his yard repeatedly. As an owner of beagles this is a natural trait for hounddogs. The rescue group known as Save Under Dogs had saved him from euthanasia. "Saint" Terri had received Bud on Monday and by Friday I was on my way to Ft. Walton Beach to meet her at a small dog bakery known as Three Dogs and a Chick.
The shop was the perfect location for our rendevous with a shady courtyard outback. As soon as Terri got out with the dog I knew he was the right one to be the next Bud. With all the formalities taken care of, I donned a Seaside collar on my new Bud and off we went.
As he sat nervously in the passenger seat of the Land Rover he sang the most pitiful song of sorrow. Oh no! Had I made a mistake? Then in site was none other than PetSmart! Another manifestation! I pulled in. With dachshund under one arm and buggy in the other hand, I immediately headed to the bed section. I threw several types on the floor and let Bud down to choose. He had me laughing hysterically as he bounced back and forth from bed to bed. He finally settled on his choice. Thank goodness it was khaki with chocolate so it would match my living room color story! I put the bed in the buggy and Bud in it. He was happy now to stroll down the different aisles gathering new chew toys and treats.
Back in the car Bud settled in his new bed with his new toys. We drove off to the farm, both with a little frightening anticipation of what was in our future. Well I manifested it so let the fun begin.
Tomorrow: Bud goes to Seaside!
